Pennybyrn Charitable Giving Programs
Pennybyrn at Maryfield is in the midst of the most exciting time since we first
began our mission of caring for elders in 1947. We have made revolutionary changes
in the way we care for older adults. These changes have moved us away from the traditional
modes of treatment to methods that are revolutionizing the elder care environment.
These changes have been physical as well, with larger resident rooms and enhanced
community areas. As a result, Maryfield Health Care Households feel more like a
neighborhood and less like an institutional nursing home. The new concepts in care
will make Pennybyrn at Maryfield the model for elder short- and long-term care for
not only the East Coast, but for the whole nation.
Ways to Contribute
- Gifts of Cash- Donors may make their gifts by writing a check, making a pledge,
paying in cash or even donating online.

The Resident Care Fund, Our Annual Campaign for Charitable Care
The Resident Care Fund assists Pennybyrn at Maryfield’s skilled nursing residents
who have exhausted their own financial resources. This fund was established so these
residents would be able to continue receiving the same quality of service, care
and life enhancement as the residents who still have financial resources available.
The Resident Care Fund serves to address the financial gap between Medicaid coverage
and the actual cost of medical care here. These funds go directly into resident
care and services. In 2008, over $1.5 million in resident care was underwritten
by Pennybyrn at Maryfield. Gifts to this annual campaign for charitable care help to offset the cost
of this care.

The Unrestricted Fund
Unrestricted gifts allow the most flexibility for Pennybyrn at Maryfield to use
the gift where there is the most need.
Employee Recognition Fund
Gifts to the Employee Recognition Fund allow families to honor employees who go
above and beyond the call of their job of caring for our loved ones. Pennybyrn at
Maryfield uses these funds for special employee recognition events.
Pennybyrn at Maryfield Endowment Fund
The Endowment is Pennybyrn at Maryfield’s savings account for the future. The principal
of all gifts to the Endowment remains untouched while the money earned from investments
in the Endowment supports our mission to serve the elderly on a yearly basis. A
gift to the Endowment Fund is a gift that will last for generations to come.
